Bishop Kallistos Ware considers Staniloae as perhaps the greatest Orthodox dogmatic theologian of modern times, but since most of his work remains untranslated, his greatness is not yet fully appreciated…
“The theologian of Christian love…”
About Fr. Dumitru Staniloae
Forest’s work for peace began in the early 1960s when he worked with Dorothy Day and served as an editor of the Catholic Worker. A founder of the Catholic Peace Fellowship, he later served time in prison for his anti-war activities.
Since 1976 Forest has lived in Alkmaar, Holland, where he served for some years as General Secretary of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation.
He became an Orthodox Christian in 1988 and is currently General Secretary of the Orthodox Peace Fellowship.
His award winning Orbis books include biographies of Dorothy Day and Thomas Merton, as well as Praying with Icons and Ladder of the Beatitudes.
Forest’s talk considers what it means to see one’s life as a form of pilgrimage-whether journeying to distant places, or simply living day by day in a God-attentive way.
The Maryknoll Speakers Series offers timely and stimulating talks and discussions. These events are held in the Asia-Africa Room of the Maryknoll Society Center in Ossining, N.Y.
